Alfredia McClellan

The trumpet sounded, on Monday, March 22, 2021, our beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend MRS. ALFREDIA (“FREDA”) FREEMAN MCCLELLAN, finished her task, answered the call, and left behind a legacy of love, humanity, and service to her family, friends, and loved ones. FREDA was born April 7, 1961 to the late Catherine Byrd Freeman and Roland James Freeman. At an early age, FREDA accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Timmonsville, SC. She was ordained as Minister and was a devoted member of Sandy Grove Baptist Church in Lumberton, North Carolina. She was admired for her dedication to educate and nurture people of all ages and her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a loyal Diamond Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. FREDA was a graduate of Timmonsville High School, Class of 1979, Claflin College, Orangeburg, South Carolina, Class of 1983. She earned a Master’s Degree from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC, and a 2nd Master’s Degree from Trinity College, Washington, D.C in Special Education and Administration. She began her career as an educator at Allen University, Columbia, SC, Denmark Technical College, Denmark, SC, Prince George’s County Public School, Upper Marlboro, MD for several years. The family later relocated to Lumberton, North Carolina where she retired as an Assistant Principal with Robeson County School District, Lumberton, North Carolina. She was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Charles Andrew McClellan on December 22, 1991 and to this union two beautiful girls, Charnelle and Endia were born. FREDA will be sorely missed by all who was graced by her presence. FREDA was predeceased by her parents Roland James Freeman and Catherine Freeman, her grandmother, Isadora Byrd, and one of her siblings, Andreta Williams. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Mr. Charles Andrew McClellan; her daughters, Charnelle McClellan and Endia McClellan of Lumberton, NC; three sisters, Vernessa White, Timmonsville, SC; Abbie (Innocent) Nkwocha, Columbia, SC and Shondra (Frankiese) Hicks, Marietta, GA; her brother, Lonnie Freeman, Timmonsville, SC; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Lowe, Lumberton, NC and Mary Hall, Fayetteville, NC; two brothers-in-law, Lee Vernice (Amelia) McLellan, District Heights, MD and Kennard Williams, Florence, SC; a host of additional al family members including many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her granddaughter Brooklynn whom she adored.
