Beverly Cooper Figueroa

Mrs. Beverly Yvonne Cooper Fiqueroa was born on May 11, 1962 at Cumberland Hospital in Brooklyn, NewYork to Maella Virginia Price Cooper and the late Napoleon Leon. Beverly was educated in Brooklyn and graduated from Carnarise High School. She obtained 60 credit hours attending Long Island University in downtown Brooklyn. As a very young child she attended The People’s Baptist at Amboy street where she sung on the Sunbeam Choir and attended Sunday school. Beverly was baptized by Rev. Christopher Columbus Mock. She had a beautiful singing voice. Her favorite song was “The Lord’s Prayer”. Beverly was a Girl Scout at the Holy House of prayer. She attended the Fresh Air Fund Camp during summer some summers her mother carried her with the rest of her family to Montreal, Canada and Disney World in Florida in 1977. Beverly went to Hollywood, California to live once but returned home after a brief ten days. Beverly’s employment began at the age of 14 in the summer school programs. As an adult she was employed in security at 50 court St. in Brooklyn, New York. Beverley was married to Ralph Fiqueroa for nearly three years. Beverly was preceded in death by: Her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Price, Mr. and Mrs. John Fleet Cooper; her father Mr. Napoleon Leon Cooper; and her sister Hattie Dolores Cooper. Beverly leaves to mourn her passing: her mother Maella Virginia Price Cooper of Florence, South Carolina; brother Barry Leon (Sonya) Cooper; her sister Sylista Mae Cooper (Everett) Dixon and brother Karl Maurice Cooper; five nieces A’juna Nanette Cooper (Felipe) Williams of Gastonia, North Carolina; Chanel Nicole Cooper (David) Rockwell of Texas, Leona Virginiamarie Cooper, of Hampton, Virginia, LaQuanna Adams of Illinois and Kaitlin L. Cooper of Queens New York; three nephews Jerrel Samuel Cooper of Gastonia, North Carolina, Barry Cooper Pointer and Maurice Cooper Pointer of DeKalb, Illinois; three grandnieces, Jahasia Pearl Brutus, Iyanna Carolyn and Aaliyah Denise Williams of Gastonia, North Carolina; one sister-in-law Felicia Monsantos Cooper of Hampton, Virginia; one aunt Mary W. Cooper of Columbia, South Carolina; two uncles, Otis Billy Cooper of Sumter, South Carolina and Thomas (Eva) Cooper of Upper Marlboro Maryland; several cousins and friends.
