Christen Jones

Christen "Chris" Jones was born on December 1, 1946, to the late Deacon Ivory Jones Sr. and Mae Etta Jackson Jones. At an early age, Chris dedicated her life to Christ and became a faithful member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Throughout the years, she served faithfully in numerous ministries, including the Usher Board, Vacation Bible School, Girl Scout leadership, the Finance Committee, and as the church's secretary. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her church family were evident in every area of her service. Chris was a proud graduate of Wilson High School, Class of 1964. She remained actively involved with her alma mater and cherished the lifelong friendships she developed as a member of the Class of 1964. She established a strong work ethic through her employment with Wentworth, Electromotive, General Electric of Florence, and later LeMasters, where she served as head seamstress. Her passion and talent for sewing inspired her to become the owner and operator of Fix "N" Stitch, a business she proudly operated for more than 30 years. Through her gifted hands and exceptional craftsmanship, she altered and restored countless garments, faithfully serving the Pee Dee and surrounding communities. Chris was affectionately known as "The Hot Dog Lady," a nickname she earned because of her famous homemade chili hot dogs. Her delicious hot dogs became a beloved tradition at Mount Carmel Baptist Church and brought joy to countless church members, family, and friends over the years. Chris was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon Ivory Jones Sr. and Mae Etta Jackson Jones; her stepmother, Marie Brunson Jones; her sister, Mary L. Jones; and her brothers, Clifford Brunson and Cleveland Brunson. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted son, Bernard Jones of Florence, South Carolina; her beloved grandson, Brad Jones of Florence, South Carolina; her brothers and sisters, Samuel (Betty Jean) Jones, Hattistine (Theodore) Stinney, Ivory Jones Jr. (Wanda), and Tommy (Gwen) Jones, all of Florence, South Carolina; Retha (Otis Sr.) Ross of Darlington, South Carolina; and Willie Lee Jones of Baltimore, Maryland, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish her love, kindness, and beautiful legacy.
