Dorothy Lewis

Dorothy Louise Zimmerman Lewis was born to the union of the late Mr. Henry Lee Zimmerman and Mrs. Vermell Jackson Zimmerman on August 19, 1951, in Timmonsville SC. She completed her race and went to take her rest on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Dorothy was married to Mr. Matthew Lewis Jr. on August 24, 1968. Their union produced six children. Dorothy served as an Usher, a Cook and Server, and sung on the Young Adult Choir at St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church. She served and loved the Lord devotedly. Dorothy made sure to gift her family with the love of the Lord and did her best to show us the way. Dorothy was educated at Johnson High School in the Timmonsville Public school system. She worked as a seamstress at Craigs Industries for many years. She loved to sew, cook, and sing. Her most relaxing moments were crossword puzzles, watching daytime stories and spending time with her grandchildren. Dorothy was proceeded in death by her brothers, Norman Zimmerman, June Zimmerman, Linzia (the late Elenora) Zimmerman, Clifton Zimmerman, and Earnest (Alberta) Zimmerman. She leaves to cherish loving memories: her husband, Matthew Lewis, Jr.; six children, Faelondia (Rodney) Curry of Columbia, Matthis Lewis of Timmonsville, Timothy Lewis of New York, Evalena Jones of Columbia, Tatauna Lewis of Columbia, and Montre “Dewyne” Lewis of Connecticut, two Bonus children, Cynthia Dixon of Columbia and the late Levern McDial of New Jersey, sister and brother in-Law, Beverly Simon and Rodney Jones; twelve Grandchildren, Tiffany Lewis, Darneshia Lewis, Melissa Carter, Montana Lewis, Chyna Curry, Lunndon Lewis, Endya Curry, Bryson Jones, Zarita Dixon, Rogerio Dixon, Oceaunia Dixon and Levern McDial Jr,; and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Wheler (Edith) Zimmerman of the Bronx; three sisters, Margaret “Alice” Zimmerman of Manhattan, Catherine (Frank) Francis of Florence and Vermell “Ann” King of Timmonsville; brothers and sisters in-law, Generine (Nathan) Scott of Lynchburg, Joan Gee of Timmonsville, Jeanette Gee of Lamar, Alice Juanita Lewis of Lamar, Bobbie Jean Lewis of Hartsville and Walter (Mildred) Lewis Jr. of Florence; host of nieces, nephews, cousins; three Child-hood friends, Yula Mae Sumter, the late Barbara Ann Nero and Lynette Green.
