Elizabeth Jefferson Brailey

Elizabeth Jefferson Brailey was born on March 16, 1941, in Lee County to the late Charlie Jefferson, Sr. and Ethel Mae Dingle Jefferson. She departed this earthly life on August 12, 2026, at her home. Elizabeth attended the public schools of Lee County. Throughout her life, she was a hardworking and devoted woman who worked tirelessly to provide for and care for her children. For many years, she worked as a caregiver and also worked on a farm. She later gained employment with Turner Manufacturing and eventually retired from the Swamp Fox Inn. Elizabeth was a faithful member of Green Bay Missionary Baptist Church. She was a kindhearted, loving, and generous person who had a special place in her heart for children. It did not matter whose child it was—Elizabeth made sure every child was cared for and had a plate to eat. If there were ten children playing in her yard, she would call every one of them into the house to eat along with her own family. No child was ever left out. Elizabeth loved her family with all her heart, but her kindness extended far beyond her relatives. Even someone she had just met was treated with the same love, respect, and compassion as family. She taught her children the importance of working hard for whatever they wanted in life—doing things the right way, no matter how difficult the journey or what kind of work was required. She reminded them that nothing in life should be taken for granted and that, ultimately, every blessing came from God In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by two sisters Susan Jefferson Rhodes and Virginia Jefferson; her five brothers Jerry Jefferson, Jerome Jefferson, Alfonso Jefferson, Harry Jefferson and Charlie Otis Jefferson; and one grandson Dreuxel Brailey Elizabeth leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband of 69 years Mr. Ernest Brailey, Sr.; her children Robert (Carol) Brailey, Della (Samuel) Lee, Lorraine Brailey all of Lynchburg, South Carolina, Troy (Debra) Brailey, Ernest Brailey, Jr., both of Timmonsville, SC, and Bobby Joe Brailey of Effingham, South Carolina; four brothers, Leroy Jefferson of Lamar, South Carolina; Clyde (Mary Ann) Fleming of Lynchburg, South Carolina Donald Fleming and Michael Fleming of Lynchburg, South Carolina; three sisters Josephine Jefferson and Vivian Johnson, both of Cartersville South Carolina, and Sarah (Ryan) Gregg of Elliott, South Carolina; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.
