Mary Walker Shaw

Mrs. Mary O’Lethia Walker Shaw peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. “Letha’s” (as she was affectionately called), life journey began on February 23, 1952 in Olanta, SC. She was the daughter of the late L.J. and Rosa Dickey Walker. Letha’s Christian journey began at St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Eastern High School in 1970. Letha worked as a seamstress for Avondale and Leggs Hosiery before relocating to Baltimore, MD in 1988. Upon arriving in Maryland, Letha began her career in pharmaceuticals with Becton Dickinson & Company where she met her husband Alfred Shaw. She later joined New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown, MD. After over twenty-five dedicated and hardworking years, she retired in 2013 and relocated back home to Lynchburg, SC in 2014. After returning home to South Carolina, Letha joined Savannah Grove Baptist Church in Effingham, SC. Letha began to work with the community and assisted with the food distribution to the elderly in Lee and Sumter Counties. Letha was a faithful person and was determined to take care of her brothers and family members. During her leisure time, she loved to go to several antique and décor shop. Letha was predeceased by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, one brother Jacob “Bobby” Walker, one sister Annie Lois “Ann” Walker-Harvin, and brother-in-law Jimmy Harvin. Left to cherish her precious memories: her husband Alfred E. Shaw, her son Eric (Monica) Walker, McDonough, GA, her daughter Monique Daniels (of the home); three grandchildren Mykayla Rose Walker, Ronia Dennise Sanders, and Myles Eric Walker; Niece reared as her own Kellye Walker (Ahmad Lewis), Lexington, SC; Nephew reared as her own Keith Walker (Sumter, SC); Adopted daughter Tiffany (Joseph) Sigler, Sumter, SC; four brothers, Eddie James (Delores) Walker, Lawton, Ok, Esau (Mary Ann) Walker, Sumter, SC, Ramon Walker (of the home), David Walker (of the home), one sister-in-law Annett Walker, Sumter; one uncle Leo (Carolyn) Dickey, Baltimore, MD; four aunts Evelyn Pendagrass, Mary Alice Fullard, Alice Dickey, and Mary Ann Dickey of Baltimore, MD; four special cousins, Dorothy Mill, Minnie Johnson, Linda D. McCray, Phylisha Harry Green, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
