Michael Muhammed

Michael “Mike” Hakim Muhammad was born on March 6, 1972, in Florence, South Carolina to Bryant Moses and Francis Muhammad. On Monday September 16, 2024, he peacefully transitioned into eternal life at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center. Mike was raised in Virginia by his mom and loving father Bin Sad Muhammad until the age of 16, before returning to South Carolina and graduating from Timmonsville High school. Following high school, Mike assumed various jobs. However, his most prized job was that of City Councilman of Timmonsville. As a born leader, Mike was quick to absorb new information and would be the first to stand up and defend his views publicly or privately. His true goal was to ensure his people were treated fairly in all aspects of life. After serving as City Councilman, Mike continued educating people about their rights within state and local laws. Mike’s beautiful smile and infectious energy were always a part of his presence and will continue to fill the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Mike is survived by his amazing sons, Hakeem (Asiah) Muhammad of Florence, South Carolina, Michael Muhammad of Arlington, Virginia, Xavier Muhammad and Bilal Muhammad of Florence, South Carolina, Prince Muhammad and Michael Muhammad both of Timmonsville, South Carolina; His loving parents Bin Sad Muhammad and Frances Muhammad of Richmond, Virginia; father Bryant Moses; his devoted partner and daughters, Demetric McKenzie, Shanyrah Hannah and Audree Hannah; six grandchildren: Haille, King- Howard, Madison, Grace, Zuri, and Azariah Muhammad of Florence, South Carolina; his loving siblings, Sammon Cussac of Florence, SC, Bin Sad (Jamie) Muhammad, Jamal Muhammad, both of Richmond, Virginia; Karim (Carly) Muhammad, Abdul (Shanika) Muhammad both of Stafford, Virginia, Fareed Muhammad of Crewe, Virginia, Corey Moses of Charlotte, North Carolina, Courtney Moses of Sumter, South Carolina; a devoted cousin Sylvester “Vest” Rush of Florence, South Carolina; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
