Mrs. Annie D. McIntosh

Annie Dell McIntosh, 85, of Timmonsville, SC transitioned peacefully at home from natural causes on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. Her parents were the late John and Easter (Lewis) Mashack. All who knew and loved her called her “Granny” At a young age she attended Chaney Grove Baptist Church where her family had been long time members. She graduated in 1951 from hillside High School in Durham, NC. In 1954, she received her LPN licensing from the Durham School of Nursing. She served as an LPN at various hospitals and facilities in North Carolina, Jacksonville, Florida and Florence County for over 54 years before retiring from the Pee Dee Regional Center of Special Needs in 2008. An avid read, she read thousands of bools and was often known to read through the night to finish a “good” book in a day. She also loved cooking, playing spades, crazy 8’s, making latch hook rugs and completing cross word puzzles. She was strong, independent, hardworking, tenacious, and devoted to her family and friends whom she would help no matter what the situation or condition. She touched so many lives and left every life she touched better for the experience. She will surely be missed by all who knew her. To continue her legacy, she is survived by: two daughters, Barbara D. Cox (William) ad Vickie L. Moore of Timmonsville, SC; one son, Michael Smith of Tulsa , OK; one sister, Carriedder Jones of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Peter I. Mickens (Tiffany Long)), Michael M. Cox, Jacqueline C. Waiters, Willis M. Thomas (Mary Prescott), Shaletta Thomas (Leon Rose); six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Flossie M. Hickson and two husbands, Thomas A. Smith and Vincent McIntosh.
