Mrs. Margie A. Friday was born on May 29, 1939, in Timmonsville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Alberta Rainey. On Monday, April 25, 2022, she was summoned by the Lord to join the Great Cloud of Witnesses of Faith into the Church Triumphant. Margie received her early formal education in the public schools of Florence County, South Carolina. Margie worked in the farming and manufacturing industry early in her life and later worked with the Mental Health Department of South Carolina. Before her final retirement, she worked in food service of Florence District Four School System. Margie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior, baptized and joined the Chaney Grove Baptist Church in Timmonsville, SC. Following her marriage, she joined the New Haven United Methodist Church in the Cartersville Community of the Timmonsville area. She served the Lord through the church in various capacities including President of the United Methodist Women and President of the Usher Board. Margie enjoyed cooking, gardening and dancing. Later in life, she enjoyed floral design. Margie dedicated much of her life caring for others in the community especially during times of sickness and family challenges. Margie was preceded in death by her eldest son and daughter in law Michael M. (Barbara) Friday; her parents, Willie and Alberta Rainey; two brothers; Willie Rainey, Jr and Charles Freddy Rainey, Sr.; sisters included Geraldine R. Jackson, Patricia R. Hearon, Odessa R. McFadden, and Shirley R. Page. Margie leaves a legacy of love and many precious memories to be cherished by her family and friends. She leaves her husband of 66 years, Monroe A. Friday; sons, Alexander Altonia (Loretta) Friday of Sumter, SC, James L. (Debra) Friday of Columbia, SC, Ronald D. (Paulette) Friday of Blythewood, SC; daughters, Pamela V. Friday-Norfolk of Raleigh, NC and Muriel A. Friday of Austin, Texas; a sister, Lillian R. Woods of Brooklyn, NY; sisters in law—Carolyn Rainey of Macon, Ga., Christine V. Friday of Timmonsville, S. C., Frances F. Jackson of Timmonsville, SC, Pearline Friday of Sumter, S.C., Robbie Friday of Edgefield, S. C and Elsie Friday of Columbia, S. C.; brothers in law, Samuel D. Friday Jr. and Harry J. Friday; grandchildren, Roderick (Melinda) Robinson, Michael (Tameka) Friday, Jr., Jason (Desmina) Friday, Jelana (Tonya) Friday, Shayanna Norfolk, Steven Friday, Lorenzo Norfolk and Malachi King-Steward; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Quayshawn, Detron, Jamaris, Majayla, Makijah, Mikaya, Ayanna, Maliha, Madison, Jania, Gabriel, and Micah. She also helped to raise those she considered her children as well; Burnett Jackson, Debra Goodman, Levern Ward, Gloria Ward, Joyce Ward, and Alvin Ward.
