William “Chip” Wood III

December 29, 1983 - January 23, 2022

William Wood, III of Timmonsville, SC began life's journey on December 29, 1983. He was the son of the late Elder William Wood, Jr and Pastor Katie G. Wood. William, affectionately known as "Chip", departed this life on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Chip received his formal education in the public schools of Timmonsville, SC. He furthered his education at Benedict College where he graduated in 2009, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Development with a concentration in Childcare Administration. Throughout his early care and education years, Chip obtained various certifications that enhanced his ability to do what he loved most; working with children, families, and staff. Chip was a leader by nature which afforded him the opportunity to exhibit his talents not only internally, but externally through outreach, marketing and community engagement. Chip excelled in every position held. Chip was a lifelong member of Mt. Calvary Apostolic Church where he was dedicated to the work of Lord. Chip always loved church and would show great excitement in attending the services. He was baptized in Jesus' name at an early age and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. He faithfully served in many capacities. He served as church drummer and also served as an usher from his youth. He held the office of praise and worship leader for many years and he had a gift of singing that helped to bring much joy to others. He accepted the call of God to minister the Gospel of Christ in 2015 and preached his initial sermon August 9th of that same year. Minister Wood loved and was loved by many. He impacted the lives of everyone that he came in contact with from various walks of life. He loved to talk and was never a stranger to anyone. Even as a child, he would converse with his elders with maturity. Minister Wood was not just a talker but believed in getting things done. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Minister Wood was preceded in death by his father, Elder William Wood, Jr and maternal grandparents, Doris "Jack" and Katie Jackson Green and paternal grandparents, William and Janie Bryant Wood; three uncles, Randolph Green, Willie J. Green, and Rudolph McQueen. Left to cherish his precious memories are: his mother, Pastor Katie G. Wood of Timmonsville, SC; siblings, Doris(Tyrone) Davis of Timmonsville, SC, Dr. Cedric B.
