Willie Salters Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Willie J. Salters, Jr. was born January 5, 1953, in Florence County, South Carolina a son of the late Iciabel McFadden-Salters and Willie J. Salters, Sr. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at McLeod Hospice House of Florence. His family moved to Rockville Center, New York when he was 5 years old. He attended grammar school at Watson Wilson Junior High and Senior High School, he also briefly attended Southwest College in Kansas. Willie would often visit his Aunt in New Jersey where he met the love of his life, Shirley Whitlow in 1971. They were joined in holding matrimony in 1981 they went on to have two beautiful twin daughters along with his two stepchildren. Willie and Shirley both gave their lives to the Lord and have been married for 49 wonderful years. Willie was employed at Nucraft Manufacturing Company in Patterson, New Jersey until the company closed. He also worked at Polaris Plating Company in Paterson, New Jersey for over 30 years until that company closed. Willie was a hardworking man who took good care of his family. Willie became a member of Neighborhood Baptist Church in New Jersey where he attended for several years. He then went on to join Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church in Elizabeth, New Jersey where he was called to serve as a Usher. Willie fell in love with ushering. He continued to serve as an usher and was faithful to his calling. No matter where he was needed, Willie was glad to be of service to the Lord and to the House of worship. Willie was a quiet man who loves the Lord he and his wife retired in South Carolina where they both attended Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church where he also served as an usher. Even in his last days Willie's spirit was still ministering to the nurses the technicians, clergy and other staff members of McLeod Hospice House and they fell in love with Willie. He was preceded in death by, a great granddaughter, La’ziah Rogers, a sister, Annie B. Salters-McKithen and a brother Henry L. Salters. Willie leaves to cherish his precious wonderful memories: a loving devoted wife, Shirley W. Salters; a son Alvin Whitlow of New Jersey; three daughters, Latrina K. Salters of New Jersey, Latina T. Salters of Lynchburg, South Carolina, and Lavonia M. (Douglas) Salters- Graham of Virginia; four grandchildren, Latrice Q. Whitlow of New Jersey, La’Tasha S. Salters- Pena of Arkansas, Marquis S. Allen of Florence, South Carolina and La’ Keiyah T. Allen of South Carolina; four beautiful great grandchildren, Layloni, Taliyah, Logan, and Jadalyn and one to come Layla; also survived by his loving sister, Mary Ann Salters of South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, friends and his loving church family.
