Betty Ann Carroway

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Betty Carroway, who peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the age of 60 years old. Betty was born on March 29, 1965, in Darlington, SC, to the late Willie Carroway and Isabella Carroway of Timmonsville, SC. She was a cherished daughter, a source of strength, and a beacon of love to all who knew her. A proud native of Timmonsville and Florence, Betty was educated in Timmonsville High School and was a part of the graduating Class of 1983. Throughout her life, Betty touched many through her kindness, dedication and unwavering love for others. Betty was a faithful servant of God. She was an active member of Mt. Zion AME where she served faithfully in the ministries of Praise Dance and the Gospel Choir. Her passion for worship and her deep-rooted faith left a mark on everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. Betty’s laughter, presence brought joy to family, friends, and all who crossed her path. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her legacy of love and service will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Carroway; a grandchild, Shaunte De’Quincy Carroway; two sisters Ruth McDaniel and Annie Mae Blandshaw; three brothers, Henry McDaniel, Woodrow Carroway, Randell Carroway, and June Carroway; a grandmother, Roxanne Thomas and grandfather Enoch Thomas. Left to share his legacy: her devoted mother, Isabella Carroway of Timmonsville, SC; her two children, Shaunte (Kwanda) Carroway and Marquitta (Anthony) McKithen; Betty was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Anthony McKithen, Jr., Zaveaon Redden, Teshaun Carroway, Deshaun Carroway, Kayla Shaunte Carroway and Marquez McKithen; Betty loved and cherished her ten sisters, Ruby McDaniels, Shirley (Robert) Stuckey, Teresa Simon, Diane Carroway, Brenda Carroway, Elizabeth Carroway of Timmonsville, SC Doris (Charlie) Albert, Sandra (Earnest) Yates of Bishopville, SC. Williston (Johnny) Nelson, Naomi (Wiley) Cooper of Alexander, Virginia; and one brother, Issac McDaniel of Timmonsville SC; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
