Robert Williams Sr.

Robert Williams Sr. was born on August 23, 1943, to the late George and Lizzie Williams. He peacefully departed this earthly life on Monday, January 12, 2026, at his home in Lynchburg, South Carolina. Robert was educated in the Lee County School System and was a devoted member of King Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Lynchburg, South Carolina, where he faithfully served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. His commitment to his church and love for God were evident through his years of dedicated service. Robert was a hardworking man who labored throughout his life in various occupations, including school janitor, truck driver, and waste management, among others. After many years of faithful work, and once his health began to decline, he made the decision to retire in 2023. Above all, Robert was a devoted family man who took great pride in making sure his loved ones were always cared for. He kept many animals around his home, including cows, pigs, and chickens, which he lovingly tended to help feed his family. He often traveled to the beach to bring back boxes of fresh fish and was well known throughout the community for having the very best barbecue around town. Robert had a gift for storytelling and was always ready with a funny story to share. He was a smart, humorous, and loving man who truly cherished being surrounded by family. He enjoyed fishing, cooking catfish stew in the backyard on weekends, and visiting the flea market with his wife on Saturday mornings—just a few of the simple pleasures that brought him joy. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Smith; his brother, Frazier Williams; and his children, Allen Williams, Frederick Williams, Vermel Dickey, Dorothy Anderson, Diane Kennedy, and Jeffrey Johnson. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife, Jannie Williams; his five children, daughter Tabitha Lloyd and four sons, Derek Williams, Jeremy Williams, Robert Williams Jr. (Reese), and Steven Nance; one sister, Hattie Bradley; and four brothers, Albert Williams, George Williams Jr., Jimmy Williams, all of South Carolina, and Alfonso Williams (Betty) of Maryland. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a host of loving nieces and nephews, and his beloved pet dog, Jake.
