Sarah Gee Quillen

Ms. Sarah Gee Quillen, a woman of unwavering faith and dedication, departed this life at the age of 93, December 17, 2025. Sarah was born the seventh of fourteen children to the late Jessie and Ruth (Friday) Gee on December 26, 1931, in Timmonsville, SC. She began her relationship with God at a young age, becoming a lifelong and avid student of the Bible. Her life was a testament to her commitment to ministry, as she faithfully served as an usher for over thirty years at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Timmonsville, SC. Her service was not just a duty; it made a profound impact on the lives of those she served. Moreover, served and held various positions as a member of the Mutual Aid Society for over 60 years and the Naomi Chapter No. 93 of the Order of Eastern Star for 57 years. Sarah was known for her kindness, generosity, and constant love for her family and community. Sarah received her formal education in Timmonsville, SC, graduating from Timmonsville High School. She was employed by the Florence School District Four and retired after twenty years of dedicated service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Ruth Gee; her brothers, Freddie, Henry L., and Rudolph Gee; and her sisters, Inez Brown, Edith Thomas-Atkinson, Ada Mae Greene, Ruby Lee Josey and Catherine Johnson. Sarah leaves behind a legacy of faith and is survived by her three devoted sons: Joe (Eloise) Quillin Sr. of Elgin, SC; Sammie (Sonja) Quillin of Albuquerque, NM; Andrew (Angela) Quillen of Newnan, GA; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janie (Ernest Sr.) Couser of Blackwood, NJ; Jessie Bell (Jeffery) Barr of Timmonsville, SC; one adopted sister, Ruth Cumming of Charlotte, NC; two brothers: Jonathan (Johnnie L.) Gee of District Heights, MD, and Norman (Mildred) Gee of Philadelphia, PA, and a sister-in-law, Pearlie Edwards Gee (wife of the late Rudolph Gee) of Timmonsville, SC; and a special niece, Jeanette (Larry) Codling of Upper Marlboro, MD who Sarah lovingly referred to as a daughter; along with a host of nephews, nieces, and many relatives. Her influence and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
